Those attending the September General Meeting learned that the Club is researching the possibility of moving our dog shows to Lumberton’s Southeastern Agricultural Center, and to join into a Cluster with Myrtle Beach Kennel Club.
Initial projections show that the move, though no longer in Moore County, would reduce our expenses by $18,000. The location is much less expensive to rent, and our club would not need to build all of the infrastructure such as the Tents, Golf Carts, Bathrooms et. al.
The show would become a 4 day show, with MCKC taking 2 days.
The Ag Center is Indoors and climate controlled. And that is increasingly attractive to exhibitors.
Moving our shows would be a huge departure for this club. We all have loved providing our county a dog show since 1987. But expenses aside, the quality of the turf and suitability to our dogs came to a fever pitch at our 2023 shows.
NO FINAL DECISION HAS BEEN MADE. But it will be a hot topic of discussion at the October 2 Board Zoom Meeting.
