Giselle Engleka’s 13-month Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch, “Mawe Majo,” took Winners Bitch back to back in Lawrenceville!

John Zopatti’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, “Zahara” went High In Trial both days at recent Scent Work Trials at BOSS in King, NC.

Don Bierer’s Flat Coated Retriever, “Peat,” went Best of Breed in Raleigh over a nice line up of Specials for a 5 point Major.

He’s beautiful AND smart. In the Obedience Rings in Durham, Peat got his first Leg in Utility A.

Kathy Scheidemann’s “Piper,” a Golden Retriever bred by Member Patty Pace, completed her VCX, a versatility award given by the Golden Retriever Club of America, by earning titles in various dog sports.

Melissa DeWitt’s “Archer,” a Belgian Malinois, cleaned up in Doswell, going Best of Opposite on Thursday, Friday Select and Saturday Select for 5 points.

SUMMER VACAY

Each year, we take off a couple of months to re-charge our personal engines, see family, train our dogs and go to shows. This year, the club will NOT have General Wednesday Meetings in June, July and August.

The Board of Directors will take time during July, but will still meet June and August.

Enjoy the summer.

Wednesday, April 25:
MCKC will set up at the Southeastern North Carolina Agricultural Events Center in Lumberton, NC.
  • Setting Up Event Space – Tables, Chairs.
  • Setting Up Signage.
  • Picking up Judges.
  • Set up Parking Attendant Umbrellas.
  • Set up directional signage.
  • Directing RV’s to their spots.
  • Checking In Vendors.

Thursday, April 25: DAY ONE OF THE MOORE COUNTY SHOW.

Friday, April 26: DAY TWO OF THE MOORE COUNTY SHOW

OUTSIDE
  • Parking Gate – Fee Collection and Pass Distribution.
  • Directional Parking at crossroads for assistance.
  • Exit Gate Attendant
  • Checking Passes
  • Directing Stall Renters.
INSIDE THE EVENT CENTER
  • Selling Catalogs
  • Trophy Table — Getting them to the appropriate rings as Judging completes.
  • Assisting Chief Ring Steward Brenda Lewis.
  • Judges Refreshments to rings.
  • Judges Hospitality.
  • Answering Exhibitor Questions and generally asking them if they require assistance.
  • Assistance at Rally Rings.
Saturday & Sunday, April 27-28:
Myrtle Beach Kennel Club Show Days.

Scent Work

The Committee (Giselle Engleka, Tracy Rouch, Marla Bowman, John Zopatti, Boo Donoho) has been hard at work pulling together the trial. 

Update as follows:

  • KC approval for our Club hold License for Scent Work trials granted.
  • AKC approval for 4 trials in May 2024 granted.
  • Premium done and posted with AKC and Infodog.
  • Trial entries open March 8th, 2024.
  • MCKC website features the trial and info (Thanks Ellen).
  • Multiple Facebook pages/groups have been used to advertise trial.
  • The trial will be advertised in the March/April edition of Competitive Canine.
  • Trial location booked and contract signed by Jane.
  • The hotel is booked for 2 judges and a trial secretary.
  • 2 judges have been secured for the trial – Linda Wozniak and Dawn Heath
  • Ribbons have been designed and selected – see attached.  They will be ordered week beginning March 4th to allow for lead times.  They have been designed in such a way that any overflow on the order can be used for future trials.
