About the Event

What Is an All-Breed Dog Show?

An all-breed dog show is a conformation event where dogs are evaluated according to their breed standards. Exhibitors present their dogs to judges, and dogs compete first within their breed, then within their group, and ultimately for Best in Show.

Whether you are an experienced exhibitor, a newer handler, or simply curious about purebred dogs, the Palmetto to Pines Cluster is a great way to see many breeds, meet knowledgeable dog people, and learn more about AKC events.

Dog shows are a wonderful way to learn about breeds, responsible ownership, and the work that goes into preparing dogs for the show ring.

Watch the Ring

Observe how handlers present their dogs and how judges evaluate movement, structure, and breed type.

Ask at the Right Time

Exhibitors are often happy to talk about their breeds, but it is best to wait until they are finished showing.

Respect the Dogs

Always ask before approaching or touching a dog. Many dogs are being groomed, prepared, or focused for competition.
