Why Join?
For people who love dogs, learning, and doing good work together.
Moore County Kennel Club of North Carolina brings together people who are passionate about purebred dogs, canine sports, responsible ownership, and the health and welfare of all dogs.
Our members participate in and support AKC events, educational programs, club meetings, community outreach, and fundraising efforts that allow us to give back to dog-related causes.
Membership is active, not just official.
Members help make club events possible, welcome newcomers, support exhibitors and handlers, and keep the spirit of good sportsmanship alive in the Sandhills dog community.
How It Works
Steps to Become a Member
The membership process gives applicants time to get to know the club, and gives our members time to get to know you.
Meet the Club
Come to a meeting or attend one of our public events. This is the best way to connect with members, ask questions, and learn where you may want to get involved.
View Upcoming EventsFind Two Sponsors
Each applicant needs two current MCKC member sponsors before the application can be considered. If you are new to the area or do not know members yet, attending meetings and events is the best first step.
Complete the Application
Once you have two sponsors, complete the membership application and submit it according to the instructions provided.
Open Membership ApplicationApplication Review
The Board of Directors reviews applications before they are presented to the membership. After the required readings at monthly membership meetings, attending members vote on the application.
Application Readings
What Happens After You Apply?
Board Review
Your application is first read to the Board of Directors. The Board determines whether it should move forward for reading at the next membership meeting.
First Membership Reading
The application is read at a monthly membership meeting for informational purposes.
Second Membership Reading & Vote
The application is read again at a second monthly membership meeting. Members in attendance then vote on membership.
Returning Former Members
Returning former members generally require only one reading.
Attend Meetings
Monthly meetings are a great way to learn what the club is doing, meet members, and discover volunteer opportunities.
Support Events
From dog shows and performance trials to club walks and educational activities, MCKC events depend on member involvement.
Give Back
Entry fees from club shows and sporting events help support MCKC’s giving back efforts and dog-related causes.
