The Moore County Pet Responsibility Committee (MCPRC) is a volunteer-driven organization in Moore County dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership. Founded in 2008, the MCPRC collaborates with local schools to educate students about pet care, the importance of spaying and neutering, and the prevention of animal cruelty. Their flagship initiative, the Pet Responsibility Education Program, has reached over 15,000 fourth-grade students, fostering a culture of compassion and responsibility toward animals.
In addition to educational efforts, the MCPRC addresses community needs by assisting with low-cost spay and neuter services and supporting local animal shelters. Their work has contributed to a significant reduction in stray and unwanted animals in the area. The committeeโs success is largely attributed to its dedicated volunteers and strong partnerships with local organizations, including our club. By supporting the MCPRC, we help ensure the well-being of pets and promote harmonious relationships between animals and residents in our community.
The Pilot newspaper recently highlighted the important work of the MCPRCin an article which can be read online at this link.

Our second Fit Dog Club Walk of 2025 will take place on Saturday, February 22nd.
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Location: Southern Pines Reservoir Park off of NC Hwy 22. Meet at the dock just inside the park.
Join us for a nice 2.4 mile hike around the Southern Pines Reservoir. This is a relatively easy trail with limited inclines and lots of great sniff spots for the dogs! This is the perfect way to get some exercise and fresh air as winter starts to loosen its grip on our area. The dogs have a great time and the people are fun too!
Just a reminder that the February General Club Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February, 5, 2025 at Table on the Green restaurant in Pinehurst. Meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. Arrive at 5:40 p.m. if you plan to order dinner.
