Look who went Best In Show and Best Bred By Exhibitor! This is a puppy out of Betty Chapman and Beth Verner’s stud dog Kovu, aka CH Caraway Celebrate Life (semen).

Kovu was a 3-time National Champion Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Winner of the Group at Crufts in 2008. DOD 2008, his first litter from frozen semen (2021) in Calgary, CA produced a national sweepstakes winner. A repeat breeding in Calgary and Ontario.

A North Carolina litter of 9 resulted in 4 US Show pups and one shipped to the Netherlands. Results of their first show weekend in February included several 4 and 5 point majors, as well as a win, as seen in this photo.

Naomi’s Treeing Walker Coonhound, earned both her Trick Dog Novice Title and Canine Good Citizen Title.

She will now be known as Warrior Woods Dixie CGC TKN. But her friends call her Dixie. Naomi rescued her from the Lee County Animal Shelter in 2020.

If there are any skeptics out there, it appears you can get a hound to work. Well done Naomi and Dixie.

Marla Bowman’s Shetland Sheepdog, Solange Bohemian Rhapsody (Freddie Mercury), earned his Scentwork Novice Title. He does love his Scentwork!!  AND – those ribbons look bigger than him. WELL DONE!

Kathy Scheidemann’s Golden Retriever, Piper, earned her fourth pass in Senior Hunter. She is now Sandpiper’s Golden Button SH, owned by Kathy and bred by Patty Pace.

A NOTE FROM THE BIERERS: February 2022

We still have a hard time believing that our “Cody” GCH Victory’s Kodiak Grin and Bear It CDX JH WC is gone.  The cancer was fast and furious.  He was diagnosed on November 10th.

On November 11th, my field training group met and Cody got to do what he loved most, retrieve ducks.  That afternoon, I held him tight as we said good bye.  Cody was just 8 years old, the first we lost so young, and my first that left so much undone.  We had started entering Senior Hunt Tests and Utility Obedience Trials.  Fall was to be the culmination of years of work.  Sadly, not to be.

We are grateful that Cody sired a wonderful litter of 10 in August 2020.

This was shortly after we had lost Rudy, our Hall of Fame dog, and we really weren’t emotionally ready for a puppy yet.  You know how that goes.

We visited the litter at week 8 and took pick of litter, Mr. Orange, home with us.  “Peat,” now CH Victory’s Scotch N Soda CD JH, has made it all so much better.  He is 80 pounds of lap dog, beautiful, smart and talented.

Peat finished his championship on his first birthday and followed shortly after with obedience and hunt titles.  He brings us joy with his silly Flat-Coat antics and he is our devoted companion.

“HUNTER” Owned by Lisa Schrank Earned his Championship in only TWO WEEKENDS Hunter made his debut in Tallahassee, winning Winners Dog and Best of Winners at North Florida Cavalier King Charles Specialty. Raleigh: Won Group 3 on his first day as a Special Congratulations to Lisa Schrank and  CH Ellemich the Huntsman

August, 2021

Huntsman won Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club show  and continues his winning ways with multiple breed wins, group wins and group placements. Congratulations to his owner, Member Lisa Schrank. More to come in the September Issue.
