Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting Feb 5, 2024

The February 2024 Board of Directors Meeting of the Moore County Kennel Club of North Carolina was held on February 5, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by the President.

In attendance were President Jane Hammett-Bright; Vice President Carol Dowd; Treasurer Melissa DeWitt; Corresponding Secretary Ellen Pfann; Recording Secretary Jefferie Cade; BOD members Ursula Walsh and Brenda Lewis. Naomi Johnson and Kathy Pellerino were absent.

A quorum was achieved.

Guests in attendance John Zopatti and Giselle Engleka presented a plan for Scent Work trials to be held May 18-19th at Sandhills Community College. There would be two trials each day – Novice and Advanced.

Ellen Pfann moved to move ahead with the plans for the Scent Work trials and the motion was seconded by Jefferie Cade. The motion passed with six yeas and one nay.

Treasurer Melissa DeWitt reported $83,946 funds available. Income vs. expense from Agility trials leaves $7921 profit. An application for insurance coverage filled out with Sportsman Insurance and we are awaiting a quote for the coverage.

Jefferie Cade moved to file the treasurer’s report and it was duly seconded by Carol Dowd. Passed unanimously.

President Jane Hammett-Bright reported that the Fast Cat trials will be successful. The runs were filled before closing. There will be a thousand dogs or more participating.

Corresponding Secretary Ellen Pfann reported the members only section of the MCKCNC website is finished and the password should be “MCKCNC”.

Ellen Pfann reported for the membership chairman that two applications were received: Emma Lambeth and Katrina Haskel.

Ellen moved to accept the two applicants for reading to the membership in the February 7th meeting and the motion was seconded by Carol Dowd. Passed unanimously.

Fit Dog Committee report next Event will be on Saturday, May 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The event will be held at the Weymouth Woods Nature Preserve, participators will assemble on the parking lot.

Board will ask for an e-mail update from Jane on the Palmetto to Pines Cluster.

Ellen Pfann moved to adjourn the meeting and the motion was duly seconded by Carol Dowd. Passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
